Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel
is a tunnel through Maynard Mountain in the Alaska. It links the Seward Highway, south of Anchorage at the former town of Portage with the relatively isolated community of Whittier, a port for the Alaska Marine Highway. It is part of the Portage Glacier Highway and at 13,300 feet (4050 m), is the second largest highway tunnel and the longest combined rail and highway tunnel in North America.
The tunnel only allow either one way traffic or train at one time, therefore there is a schedule for the traffic which open every full hour from Whittier to Anchorage and every half hour from Anchorage to Whittier.

Anchorage to Whittier 2.30pm, 3.30pm, 4.30pm ... ...
Whittier to Anchorage 2.00pm, 3.00pm, 4.00pm ... ...
Whittier - Prince William Sound
Whittier provide recreation access to Prince William Sound. With a population around 100-300 fluctuate during summer and winter, you can find a couple hotels, bed and breakfast, a camp ground, a few restaurants, and some stores. You can rent sea kayaks to explore the local waters, charters boats for wilderness kayaking, fishing, hiking or camping expeditions.
In Prince William sound, you can see the magnificent Columbia Glacier, as well as a wide array of marine and terrestrial wildlife, including orcas, harbor seals, humpback whales, and sea otters. Salmon and halibut fishing can be very good in parts of Sound.
